Welcome to the Community Skin Diagnostic Hub information page.
Here you will find copies of our patient information leaflets and directions to our hub location at Buckshaw Village Surgery.
You have been directed to this page following your triage contact with one of our team.
Your GP referred you to this service to ensure your skin lesion is assessed using Teledermatology to ascertain the nature of the condition and to identify any potential skin cancer.
Teledermatology is playing a key role in the fight against skin cancer. The NHS recently announced that it will invest in and accelerate the rollout of it to use within the urgent two-week-wait skin cancer pathway and suspected cancer referrals.
In Central Lancashire we are working with Skin Analytics to assess lesions using the only UKCA Class IIa AI Medical Device (AIaMD) for dermatology to sustainably deliver better patient outcomes.
Your image appointment will be at our Hub Location. Directions can be found via this map.
During your appointment our Hub staff will explain the possible outcomes following the Teledermatology assessment.
Should your lesion be identified as a potential case of Skin Cancer – firstly it is important to note that you will not have a confirmed diagnosis of skin cancer at that stage.
A full assessment and diagnosis would be completed through a referral to Lancashire Teaching Hospital’s Dermatology department.
This referral would be via the Urgent Skin Cancer Pathway and would result in further assessment within two weeks.
Should your lesion(s) be harmless and benign then you and your GP will be notified.
Finally, some conditions, although not cancerous or identified as rodent ulcers (a from of cancer named Basal Cell Carcinoma), your GP will be notified to assess what other treatment is required.
